I thought I would get things started off on the blog with a post about the recent Virginia Beach camping trip.
It began early, with three different pick-up locations around D.C., Maryland, and Virgnia. Three cars were packed with tents, food, blankets, backpacks, water, and other necessities. We made the journey to the coast, all arriving at different times, but eventually meeting up at the beach and basking in the rays of sun that burnt many of us to a crisp.
Later that day, we headed back to the campsite, got a fire going, and roasted some sausages and mallows for s'mores. The rest of the night was spent telling stories about adventures, risks we've taken, first kisses, and embarrassing moments. When the fire died down we finally crawled into our tents and dozed off until morning, when we packed up and headed out for another day on the beach.
I can't help but feel so lucky to have landed here at Ashoka with this group of interns. Everyone is so diverse and comes from all walks of life, yet we have so much in common and have this weird bond. Maybe it's because we all want to change the world or because we all fell in love with social entrepreneurship or maybe it's just that we know how to have a good time. Either way, this trip solidified that I wouldn't want to spend the summer anywhere else.
Warmly,
Tessa
